Again, from the New York Public Library, here is a selection of photos taken in Soviet prisoner camps in the 1930-s. Apparently, it was a press tour: same faces can be seen here and there. And what a show they staged: a prisoners' barrack with portraits of Marx and Stalin inside, a photo where a guard shakes hands with a prisoner... The prisoners' eyes tell you more.
